MAINLINE FREIGHT TRAINS

In February, we returned to trainspotting for the first time in almost six months where we filmed a variety of services.

AURIZON’S NEW 6MX1 SERVICE

Saturday 10th of February, we filmed Aurizon’s first 6MX1 service to Port Pirie, which rendezvoused with the new Aurizon Sydney to Perth service heading West.

BIG GEORGE RETURNS HOME!

Earlier that day on the 10th, we saw preserved South Aussie-built Victorian Railways C Class EMD locomotive, C 501 George Brown aka Big George and fellow preserved Victorian EMD, X 31, being transferred back to Dooen in Western Victoria for service on the Dooen to Appleton Dock container train. The two engines had previously worked SCT super-freighter 5MP9 the day before and were transferred back to Victoria on SCT Freight, 7AM9. We captured the train at Dry Creek; you can see it below.

72 Year Old Streamliner Returns To Victoria!

Another train we saw in February was Southern Shorthaul Railroad’s D273S service to Horsham in Victoria from the Islington Railway Workshops, located in Kilburn, SA. Both GM 10 and GM 27 worked the Inspection Train to Adelaide on behalf of ARTC (Australian Rail Track Corporation). The train has special scanning equipment aboard that tests the geometry of the track and ascertains whether the track needs maintenance or not.

FILMING AT THE STEAMRANGER HERITAGE RAILWAY!

MUSTARD POT ALCo 844 on the Cockle Train!

Sunday 25th of February, we ventured down to the SteamRanger Heritage Railway to film their preserved South Australian Railways 830 Class ALCo locomotive, number 844, which worked the Cockle Train on three return services as part of the Blue Timetable between Goolwa and Victor Harbor.

Check out our awesome Drone Video below!

FILMING THE REDHEN RAILCARS!

REDHENS 412, 334 & 424 with Baggage 824 - Hayborough, SA

The following Sunday on the 3rd of March, we travelled down again to SteamRanger and filmed the beautifully preserved Redhen Railcars, which date back to the 1950s and ran suburban rail services around Adelaide for decades. We also filmed a Driver's Eye View video between Goolwa and Victor Harbor and return. We are currently working on that video, and it will be released as soon as it’s ready.

More exciting products are planned for the year ahead. Please subscribe and follow us to keep up to date with our travels. For now, keep well and thanks for reading.
